Ubiquiti & Flytec Webinar: Mastering the UniFi Desing Center Q&A
Published by Juan David Ramirez on 17th Apr 2025
Thank you everybody for participating in our UniFi Design Center Webinar. Below we are sharing some of the questions that were asked and we look forward to many more in our next webinar.
If you have more questions, you can reach our Ubiquiti Support Line at 855-4-Flytec or
ui-support@flyteccomputers.com as well as on our webisite chat.
1. Can NVR be added?
Yes, UNVRs can be added in the Design Center under the rack view. You can select from UNVR, UNVR-Pro, or ENVR and add them into your project.
2. Looking to put in floorplan into UI design center, build myself, and then have expert take a quick look at design and offer any advice/changes: can it be used that way?
Yes. This is a typical use case design on your own, then optionally request a review for sanity checking. This can be done through Flytec.
3. I can use this tool to "recreate" an elevator project? I have a project in hands right now, using 02 elevator kit, so I need to be sure about the integration.
Yes. You can model multi-floor elevator projects, including elevator hubs and access readers for floors. It’s recommended to map both the inside and outside of elevators clearly in the Design Center.
4. Are you able to tie design to the Dashboard for each client?
You can’t link designs directly to a client’s dashboard yet, but you can create separate projects in Design Center, name them per client, and organize them that way.
5. What are best practice heights for an Outdoor A/P to cover an outdoor area? What about an Indoor wide open area like one of your office examples?
For outdoor areas, mount APs around 12–25 ft high. For indoor open spaces, 8–10 ft ceiling height works best for even coverage and performance.
6. Is it generally better to install smaller Aps and more of them or larger once and less quantity?
In most cases, more APs with smaller coverage areas is better for roaming and device performance. Exceptions exist, like warehouses where directional antennas might be more suitable.
7. If you initially draw a wall as drywall and then later find out that it will be tile, do you change the wall type?
Yes, you can change the wall type, by clicking on it and choosing the desired wall material.
8. Can we modify in the future when we want to connect the device to firewall or switch when we draw the cables lines?
Yes, you can modify it later. If you want full control over how devices connect (like to a firewall or switch), just skip the rack view and manually place the devices and draw the cables. That way, you can adjust the connections and ports anytime.
