The optical fiber splice closure is mainly used to protect the junction of optical fiber between two cables and reserve a section of optical fiber for maintenance in the closure. The closure features good leak-proof, anti-water, and moisture-resistant properties, and its power line is corrosion-resistant.

There are two types of splice closures, central and terminal. The central type is used in the middle part of the line to protect the two interconnected cables, while the terminal type is used at the end of the line for branching in the cable line or to protect the optical fiber connection in the cable and jumper.
