Linksys WMP54GX 2.4 GHz Wireless-G PCI Adapter with SRX
The Linksys WMP54GX adds wireless network connectivity to a compatible desktop computer through a conventional PCI expansion slot. Operating in the 2.4 GHz band, it supports IEEE 802.11g and 802.11b networks and includes Linksys SRX performance-enhancement technology.
SRX combines MIMO technology with Wireless-G networking to improve wireless performance when used with compatible SRX equipment. Linksys specifies wireless rates of up to 108 Mbps under supported conditions.
A separate three-antenna stand allows antenna placement away from the computer chassis. The WMP54GX is intended for legacy desktop installations; Linksys's original system requirements specify Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

Wireless Technology
The WMP54GX communicates with standard Wireless-G and Wireless-B networks. Its SRX enhancement requires compatible SRX equipment to provide the corresponding performance benefits. Standard 802.11b/g connections do not gain SRX capability simply by using this adapter.
This model supports Wireless-G and Wireless-B. It does not provide Wireless-N, Wireless-AC or Wireless-AX operation, and it does not operate on 5 GHz or 6 GHz networks.
Desktop Installation and Power
Install the adapter in a compatible conventional PCI slot with sufficient chassis clearance. PCI Express, Mini PCI and M.2 slots are different interfaces and do not accept this card directly.
The adapter draws power from the computer's PCI interface. It does not require a PoE injector or external power adapter.
Operating-System and Security Requirements
Linksys lists Windows 2000 and Windows XP in the original minimum requirements. Compatibility with newer Windows versions, macOS, Linux or specific 64-bit operating systems is not established by those requirements.

Compatible Products
The WMP54GX requires a desktop computer with a compatible conventional PCI slot, adequate chassis clearance and a supported operating system and driver. Linksys's original minimum requirements list Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
- 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11g access points and wireless routers: Supported for standard Wireless-G connections when channel and security settings match. SRX enhancement is not provided by an ordinary non-SRX access point.
- 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11b access points and wireless routers: Supported for standard Wireless-B connections when channel and security settings match.
Important: This card does not install directly in PCI Express, Mini PCI, M.2 or laptop CardBus slots. Do not assume compatibility with modern operating systems, WPA3-only networks, or access points configured to exclude 802.11b/g clients.
Antenna compatibility: Use the original antenna assembly unless a replacement is explicitly approved for the exact hardware. Linksys documents use different SMA connector terminology, so a connector-name match alone is insufficient to select a replacement antenna or cable.
