Frequently Asked Questions
Yes—because the U7-Lite still improves overall network efficiency and is ready for newer clients. It supports modern channel widths (including 160 MHz and Wi-Fi 7 EHT modes) and provides a strong upgrade path without replacing your access point again soon. Your Wi-Fi 6 devices will still connect normally, and newer Wi-Fi 7 clients can take advantage of added capabilities as you upgrade devices over time.
You don’t need a 2.5GbE switch for it to work—the U7-Lite will operate on a 1GbE port. However, a 2.5GbE uplink helps prevent the wired connection from becoming a bottleneck when many clients are active or when you use higher-performance Wi-Fi settings (like wider channels).
The U7-Lite is powered via PoE and has a maximum power consumption of about 13W. It supports a DC voltage range of 42.5–57V (typical for 802.3af/at PoE environments).
The U7-Lite is a compact, ceiling-mounted access point designed for homes and small-to-medium spaces. Real-world coverage depends on walls, interference, and mounting location, but it’s typically best used as part of a multi-AP plan for larger areas. It’s well-suited for high-density everyday usage like streaming, work-from-home, and multiple devices connected at once.
Choose the U7-Lite if you want a more future-ready access point with Wi-Fi 7 features and a 2.5GbE uplink for better wired backhaul headroom. Choose the U6-Lite if your priority is the lowest cost and your network/device mix is firmly Wi-Fi 6 today. If you’re upgrading your network for the next few years, the U7-Lite is usually the better long-term pick.
