MikroTik CWDM-MUX8A 8-Channel Passive CWDM MUX/DEMUX
The MikroTik CWDM-MUX8A is a passive 8-channel CWDM MUX/DEMUX designed to increase fiber network capacity by combining multiple optical channels over a single fiber pair. It allows network operators to transmit up to 8 independent fiber links using different CWDM wavelengths, reducing the need to install or lease additional fiber.
Using Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM), the CWDM-MUX8A combines wavelengths from 1470nm to 1610nm into one fiber path and separates them again at the far end. This makes it ideal for ISPs, WISPs, enterprise fiber networks, campus backbones, data centers, and long-distance fiber deployments where existing fiber infrastructure must be used more efficiently.
This upgraded revision replaces the older MON port with a practical EXP/1310 expansion port, allowing regular 1310nm optical modules to be used alongside CWDM modules. The EXP/1310 port supports 1310nm SFP, SFP+, SFP28, QSFP, and QSFP28 modules up to 100Gbps, giving installers more flexibility for mixed-speed fiber deployments.

Increase Fiber Capacity Without Adding More Fiber
The CWDM-MUX8A helps expand network capacity over existing fiber infrastructure. Instead of running multiple long fiber lines, multiple CWDM wavelengths can be transmitted over one fiber pair and separated again at the opposite end using another compatible CWDM MUX/DEMUX unit.
Flexible CWDM and 1310nm Expansion
Each CWDM channel uses a specific wavelength, so the correct matching optical module must be connected to the corresponding port. The added EXP/1310 port improves flexibility by allowing standard 1310nm optics to operate alongside CWDM channels, which is useful for high-speed uplinks or mixed optical network designs.
Passive, Reliable, and Easy to Deploy
Since the CWDM-MUX8A is a passive optical device, it requires no electrical power. This reduces installation complexity, eliminates another possible power failure point, and makes it suitable for remote cabinets, fiber distribution points, and long-distance optical links.
