In real networks, performance can vary depending on factors like traffic mix, enabled features, and especially PPPoE (which can reduce throughput depending on ISP implementation). If you need consistently higher headroom with advanced security features on, consider sizing up.
Yes—many users run PPPoE successfully, but it’s important to set expectations: PPPoE overhead can reduce peak throughput (including when IDS/IPS is enabled). If your ISP plan is near gigabit speeds and you want all security features turned on, you may see slightly lower results versus DHCP-based WAN connections.
The UCG-Ultra includes (1) 2.5 GbE RJ45 port (commonly used as WAN) and (4) 1 GbE RJ45 ports. It supports multi-WAN features like failover and load balancing, making it a strong fit for homes, small offices, and multi-ISP setups.
